Due to the ever changing coronavirus situation, Reno Fire is suspending all ride alongs, station tours, apparatus requests, all reading to the kids and other public events that we would normally participate in.

  • Reno Fire is proud to announce the launch of PulsePoint. This free mobile app alerts citizens trained in CPR when someone near by is in need of help. Anyone with a smartphone can download the free  through the Google Play and Apple stores. Once the app is installed, select the agency (in this case “Reno Fire”) serving the area where you live or work to receive alerts.
  • RFD recently tested new sensor technology from SimpleSense that enables firefighters to find people faster in an emergency.

Burning Information

Burn permits are required when open burning is allowed.  A valid Burn Permit Request Form must be submitted to Reno Fire via email to  If you live in Washoe County but outside the Reno City limits please call 775-326-6000 to speak with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.

Clear Air

Many residents like to take advantage of using a wood stove or fireplace to burn wood or pellets to help heat their homes. Did you know that there is a Burn Code determined each day by the Washoe County Health Department based on our current air quality that tells us if we are allowed to burn?
